Dr. Javier La Fontaine is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio-Department of Orthopedics / Podiatry Service where he serves as an attending for the residency program.  Dr. La Fontaine is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine.  He is also Board Qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in forefoot and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.  Dr. La Fontaine earned his BS degree in Biology at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He earned his DPM degree from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1995.  Upon graduation, Dr La Fontaine completed a three year residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  He spent four years in private practice.  He has lectured abroad on different topics with emphasis in the diabetic foot, and is actively involved in clinical research and publication.  Currently Dr. La Fontaine is doing his Master’s in clinical investigation, and has a special research interest in Charcot neuroarthropathy
