Dr. Williams is a native of South Texas. He obtained a PH.D in Anatomy and an M.D. at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His orthopaedic residency was at The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita and fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at Case Western University. He returned to San Antonio as a faculty member in 1990. In 2006 he was selected to head a multidisciplinary sarcoma clinic opened by the Cancer Therapy and Research Center. He was named chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics in 2001 and stepped down from the administrative position in 2007, remaining active as faculty.
Clinical and research interest: Dr. Williams serves as the only Orthopaedic Oncologist in the San Antonio area. This includes the southern portion of Texas as well as South Central and West Texas. He provides diagnosis, staging, surgical intervention and coordination of management for all musculoskeletal neoplasms. His research interest primarily involves diagnostics of Adult Soft Tissue Sarcomas and clinical outcomes in Limb Salvage vs. amputation and novel treatments of Adult Soft Tissue Sarcomas.
