
Daniel W. Carlisle, M.D
In Memoriam
Dr. Carlisle was a native Texan who received his undergraduate degree in Anthropology of Religion from the University of Houston before attending Medical School at UTHSCSA where he graduated first in his class of 200 students. He received residency training at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, and entered private practice in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
After joining the Department of Orthopaedics in 2002, Dr. Carlisle served in several positions, including as Chairman (2007-2010) and as Residency Program Director. As a non-operative orthopaedist, he devoted all of his time to running and improving the department and its educational program. His research interests included prosthetics and rehabilitation of the amputee along with use of electronic/computer technology to enhance resident education.
