Hand and Microvascular Surgeon
The Division of Orthopaedic Traumatology in the nationally recognized Department of Orthopaedics is seeking an individual for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Academic rank will be commensurate with past experience. Responsibilities will include involvement in clinical service, teaching and research activities. Employment within the Division at UTHSCSA offers a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package.
The applicant must be board certified/board eligible in either orthopaedics, plastic surgery or general surgery but must have fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery. TopShoulder and Elbow Fellowship
This fellowship is a one year experience on the Shoulder Service, Department of Orthopaedics, University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas during which the Fellow will develop a rational approach to the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder and elbow disorders. The Fellow will function as a faculty member with the title of Clinical Instructor, participate in the teaching of medical students and residents, and have ample opportunity to be involved in clinical and basic research projects. The Fellow will assist in surgery on patients referred to Dr. Rockwood, Dr. Wirth and Dr. Dutta and patients at the VA Hospital. The Fellow will have the option of taking trauma call at University Hospital, which is the Level I Trauma Center for San Antonio and 22 counties to the Mexican border.
The fellowship focuses on clinical and surgical education in the arenas of shoulder arthroplasty, shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder trauma, humerus trauma, elbow trauma, elbow arthroplasty and elbow arthroscopy. Each of the fellows will alternately rotate for six months on Dr. Wirth's team and six months on Dr. Dutta's team and attend out-patient office hours with Dr. Rockwood. Each fellow is also assigned an outpatient care clinic to run with faculty supervision.
This program is part of the ASES Fellow selection process. Interviews will be conducted between October 15 and December 15, 2010.

Opening for a Texas licensed PA-C to join the faculty (Faculty Associate) of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Texas Department of Orthopaedics offering competitive salary and benefits. The primary work location will be at the Texas Diabetes Institute, a teaching affiliate of the Health Science Center. Position will provide clinical care of adults with orthopaedic injuries in a clinic staffed by specialty orthopaedic surgeons, another PA, and orthopaedic residents.
