Alison Beck, PhD, OTR
Associate Professor
Dr. Beck earned a diploma in Occupational Therapy from St. Andrew's School of Occupational Therapy, Northampton, England. Following clinical experience in psychiatry, she received a post-graduate certificate in Play Therapy and Play Diagnosis from the Institute of Family Psychiatry, Ipswich, England. Upon coming to the USA in 1985 she worked as a pediatric therapist at two of the children's hospitals in San Antonio, Texas while completing a Master's Degree in Education at Incarnate Word College. She earned her doctoral degree from The University of Texas at Austin, in Educational Administration (Higher Education). She has over twenty-five years of clinical experience in pediatrics in acute care, community, and school settings. She completed the pediatric certification course in Neuro-developmental Treatment and held the AOTA specialty certification in Pediatrics (1992-2007). Dr. Beck currently teaches courses in neuroscience as applied to occupation, early childhood, and environmental technology. Her research interests are in pediatrics and occupational justice. |
