Kimberly Vogel image Kimberly Vogel, EdD, OTR
Associate Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator

Dr. Vogel is a graduate of Columbia University in New York where she received a Master's of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy, having previously earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kutztown State University in Pennsylvania. She earned a Doctorate in Education from University of Houston/Baylor College of Medicine, with a concentration in allied health teacher education and administration. She has an extensive amount of clinical experience in mental health, and assumes responsibility for teaching Human Occupation across the Life Span, Level I Fieldwork: Lifespan, Clinical Medicine II, and Level I Fieldwork: Adult and Geriatric Settings. She also, team-teaches Environmental Technologies I and Psychosocial Components of Occupational Therapy and is the OT faculty representative to the interdisciplinary Professional Issues course. Kimberly Vogel is responsible for the coordination of clinical fieldwork activities in the program. She has interests in the development of clinical reasoning skills in students. She participated in an interdisciplinary study on critical thinking with Respiratory Care. She has also done research on empathy and self-monitoring in allied health students, psychosocial occupational therapy service in public schools, changing expectations of fieldwork students, and use of service dogs by individuals with disabilities. Dr. Vogel functioned for 6 years as Texas' Alternate Representative to the Representative Assembly of AOTA. She has served as Fieldwork Coordinator Representative to the Commission on Education Steering Committee of COE from 1992-1995. She served as the Chair of the Review Committee for the 1993, 1994 and 1995 COE short papers. Dr. Vogel presented at the 1998 Mountain Central Conference with two students about a Habitat for Humanity project. She also gave two presentations at each Mountain Central Conference in 2000 and 2002. She served on the TOTA Nominations Committee in 2003. She was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1997.
