Although born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, then moving to Bergen County, New Jersey, Dr. Brinkley claims Richmond, Virginia as her childhood home and San Antonio, Texas as her forever home. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Biology degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1987. That same year, she married her college sweetheart and joined the Army for Medical School and to travel the world. After spending time in Europe and in the Balkans, Dr. Brinkley resigned her commission for civilian life while her husband has remained active duty Army. He will retire with thirty years in 2017. Dr. Brinkley is active with the Texas Academy of Family Practitioners and is very family-focused. She was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for 15 years, and both of her sons are Eagle Scouts.
Following Dr. Brinkley's military career, she worked for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians in the Baltimore, Maryland area for seven years where she was voted the area's "Top Doc" for Family Practice. After moving to San Antonio, Texas in 2006, Dr. Brinkley provided medical care at Brooke Army Medical Center and at Randolph Air Force Base. She continued her work in military and veterans medicine for many years before deciding to join the physician practice at UT Health. Dr. Brinkley is very excited to begin working at the newest practice location, UT Health Hill Country, in 2017.
