  • The proportions of direct patient care (DPC) physicians by age group are displayed for the San Antonio Metropolitan area. The San Antonio Metropolitan area consists of Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, and Wilson Counties.
  • The proportion of the workforce decreased between 1997 and 2003 from 10.4 to 6.9 percent for physicians under the age of 35 and from 33.0 to 28.2 percent of physicians between the ages of 35 to 44.
  • The proportion of the workforce that is “older” increased from 15.7 to 20.7 for physicians ages 55 to 64, and increased slightly for those ages 65 and over from 9.4 to 10.2 percent.
