About these lessons

Each of these web-based lessons currently is approved for one-hour of continuing education for respiratory therapists in Texas. The Texas Department of Health will accept up to four hours of web-based or computer-based continuing education each year. Approval by the American Association for Respiratory Care for those outside of Texas is pending.

Currently, there are four lessons available for use, with plans for several more. These lessons consist of screens of text and graphics, accompanied by an audio lecture. Some of the lessons also include links to other sites on the WWW to provide additional information and instructional aids, such as radiographs and other images.

Any questions or comments regarding the lessons may be directed to:

What you will need

To run these lessons, you will need RealPlayer, which is a product of RealNetworks, Inc. If you do not have RealPlayer, you can download it using a link in the first screen of the lesson. Importantly, there are two versions of RealPlayer. You will want to download and install RealPlayer Basic, which is free. After you’ve installed RealPlayer, please familiarize yourself with the controls. You can size the screen, adjust the audio volume, pause and stop the player at any time. After you have installed RealPlayer, you only need to click on the link for a given lesson to start it.

After you start a lesson, you can sit back and concentrate on the presentation, as it will run by itself. Please remember to pause RealPlayer before you click on a link to another site. Otherwise, it will continue to play the lesson while you are reviewing material on that other site.
