Position Summary
Seeking a full time (12 month contract) Assistant Professor who will teach graduate courses in area of expertise, assist in program design, advise students, develop and conduct a program of research/publication/external grant support in an area of interest, and participate in departmental and university committees and programs. Tenure/non-tenure track available based upon applicant’s qualifications.

Live in a multi-cultural city with a small town appeal. The program enjoys an active partnership with its laboratory school Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, the Department of Otolaryngology in the School of Medicine, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and other local educational and medical facilities. The program is located in the School of Allied Health Sciences which offers professional programs in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Dental Hygiene, Dental Laboratory Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Respiratory Therapy. The school has an annual enrollment of approximately 600 students. In addition to allied health, the Health Science Center is composed of the School of Medicine, Dental School, Graduate School of Biomedical Science, and a School of Nursing.
Nationally recognized by the Council on Education of the Deaf, the program currently admits approximately 10 students annually. Students may follow a full or part time degree plan.
Requirements
A doctorate in a field relevant to childhood deafness with academic preparation in education of the deaf and hard of hearing. The applicant should have a thorough grounding in the instructional strategies and approaches related to the field of auditory-oral education, particularly early intervention. Prefer experience working with children and youth who have hearing losses. Preference will be given to the applicants who have certification from the Council on Education of the Deaf, speech/language pathology, and certification in Auditory-Verbal Therapy/Auditory-Verbal Education.
