Dr. Ramirez is a 1981 graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at the San Juan PR VA Hospital, a residency in Family Practice at the USAF Regional Hospital Carswell AFB TX and a fellowship in Preventive/Occupational Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He is Board-certified in Family Medicine as well as Preventive Medicine. Additionally he holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Webster University, and completed fellowships in Health Policy at the R. F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York University, and the National Hispanic Medical Association, and in Faculty Development at the McLennan County Medical Education and Research Foundation. He is an Associate Professor at UTHSCSA and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Ramírez has been with the PA Studies program since the first class arrived and has taken an active role in the education of future Physician Assistants. He actively teaches in the classroom and in the clinical setting. He is presently the Medical Director of the Crisis Care Center at the University Hospital Center, Downtown.
