Dr Albert Sanders did his orthopaedic residency at the Baylor program in Houston. There he worked with Dr. Paul Harrington and found a life long interest in scoliosis. He has developed scoliosis clinics at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital in San Antonio, the Ruth B. Cowl Rehabilitation Clinic in Laredo Texas, and at the Easter Seal Clinic in Edinburg Texas. He has been involved in medical education, teaching residents at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, and serving as a consultant at Wilford Hall and Brooke Army Medical Centers. He is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He has also worked with orthopaedists in developing countries to help them begin spine deformity programs. In recognization for his work he has received the Blount Humanitarian Award from the Scoliosis Research Society. Along with Dr. Kaye Wilkins, a pediatric orthopaedist, and Sister Angela Clare Moran, he developed the Amigo de los Ninos program. This is an endowment program to care for children from Northern Mexico and now developing countries worldwide. |
