Message from the Chair

The UTHSCSA Department of Dental Hygiene is committed to providing multilevel educational programs for a culturally diverse student population for the prospective dental hygiene professional. These programs includea bachelor's degree and master's degree in dental hygiene. The dental hygiene faculty is composed of nationally recognized educators who are leaders in the profession. The mission of the department is to provide innovative, learner-centered education, service to the profession and community, scholarly activities, and quality patient care to the public. All of this is accomplished within a dynamic, research-based atmosphere under the administration of the School of Health Professions. The Health Science Center offers a learning environment that includes allied health, dental, medical, and nursing students working together in a blended learning environment that fosters teamwork and mutual respect.
