SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 24, 2017) ― The Cancer Therapy & Research Center (CTRC) of UT Health San Antonio™ is holding a 2.6-mile fun run/walk for cancer survivors, family members and friends.
Called “Give Cancer the Boot,” the event will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the CTRC, 7979 Wurzbach Road. Parking is free.
The event includes a Zumba warm-up before the run, face painting, games for children, a fruit walk, bubble blowing, a bean bag toss and more.
Several local cancer survivors will tell their stories, and families will be invited to sign a “survivor board” to share who they are honoring with their participation. Food trucks, the San Antonio Stars mascot and community organizations with free health information will round out the event.
Cancer survivors will be treated to free food and a goodie bag.
Although all walkers and runners are asked to register online at www.givecancertherbootsa.com, cancer survivors and children under age 12 can walk or run for free. Other family members and friends can register for $20. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. Proceeds will go to support the CTRC Patient and Family Fund.
