Artwork created by Daniel A. Vidales, an IT security analyst at UT Health San Antonio, was among 10 finalists for the official 2018 Fiesta poster. Although his poster wasn’t selected, Vidales said he “enjoyed the experience of meeting other artist and sharing ideas.”
He said he definitely plans on entering the contest again next year.
“We live in a multi-cultural city, so the image I painted broken up in multiple pieces combines the San Antonio culture and celebrates that we are part of a bigger experience outside ourselves,” said Vidales, who has worked at UT Health for 12 years.
He said painting is something he’s always done and that he has taken classes in Houston and San Antonio. He said he’s illustrated three picture books, has done graphic contract work for local T-shirt screen printing companies, and has painted four murals at two local churches.
