Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute
Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute does not participate directly in patient care, but interacts with members of the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology to provide support for clinical research. Research services at the Institute include: genome sequencing, small animal imaging and computational biology and bioinformatics.
Institute for Health Promotion Research
The Institute for Health Promotion Research studies population health and cancer, chronic disease and obesity among Hispanics.
Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science
The Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science serves to integrate clinical and translational research and promotes translational research studies.
Mays Cancer Center
Mays Cancer Center is the region’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center. Our research is focused on cancer development and progression, experimental and developmental therapeutics and population science and prevention.
The Center for Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH) is multidisciplinary collaboration of researchers and clinicians working to promote the health of South Texas residents. Research projects include Hepatitis C in Baby Boomers, pain management and health disparities.
Research Imaging Institute
The Research Imaging Institute provides laboratories and computing facilities. Current research projects include clinical and translational neuroscience.
Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies
The Barshop Institute supports research on age-related diseases and longevity. The Institute is designated as a Nathan Shock Center and the Claude D. Pepper Center and supports translational research with the goal of improving health throughout life. The Institute is also actively involved in community outreach programs to educate health care professionals on health issues facing the aging population.
UT Transplant Center
The University Transplant Center program is housed within the Long School of Medicine. Research is conducted in the Department of Surgery’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Center’s transplant research focuses on preventing organ rejection and infection. The multidisciplinary team of physicians, coordinators and nurses work with patients from illness through recovery.
