What is the minimum GPA to be accepted to the GSBS?
3.0, however, the program has the discretion to accept applicants with lower GPAs with the approval of the Graduate Faculty Council on a case by case basis.
Is the GRE score required? If so what is the minimum GRE score for the GSBS?
Some programs have opted into dropping the GRE requirement. We recommend checking their specific website for the most up to date information. If the program does require the GRE score, there are is no minimum required score.
What is the minimum TOEFL/ Duolingo/ IELTS score for international applicants?
Minimum TOEFL score is 84, minimum Duolingo score is 115, and the minimum IELTS is 7.0
Who is eligible for a TOEFL/ Duolingo/ IELTS waiver?
All applicants to UT Health San Antonio whose citizenship is outside the U.S. is required to submit valid TOEFL/ IELTS scores. There are a few exceptions to this requirement.
- Countries exempted from the TOEFL, Duolingo, and/or IELTS requirement: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunej, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guam, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kirbati, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia, Nambia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palau, Papa New Guinea, Phillippines, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Kingdom (all), Vanuatu, Virgin Islands, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
- If an applicant has completed or will complete a degree from an accredited U.S. instition prior to starting a program at UT Health San Antonio they are also eligible for a waiver.
Do I need to send in official test scores and transcripts for the application process?
No, for the application process, you do not have to submit official documents unofficial will suffice. However, if you are accepted to a program and plan on matriculating into it you’ll need to submit all official scores and transcripts from all Universities/ Colleges attended.
Is there a list of approved providers that I can I get my transcript evaluation from?
Yes, UT Health San Antonio will only accept transcript evaluations from NACES Members. You can find the full list of NACES members here: http://www.naces.org/members.html
I have transcript evaluations from a company that was not listed on the NACES members website. Can I use those instead?
No, UT Health San Antonio will only accept evaluated transcripts from NACES members.
My GPA is not on a 4.0 scale, how can I enter it into the application?
Our application will not allow for applicants to enter a number higher than 4.0, therefore if your GPA was measured on a scale higher than 4.0 you will need to have your GPA converted. We recommend using WES iGPA and then uploading the report into your application documents to identify the source of the conversion your GPA came from.
Can I use an MCAT score in lieu of a GRE score?
Check the admissions requirements for the specific program you are applying to.
Where can I send my official scores?
For the application process, most programs request that you upload unofficial documents into your application for the reviewing process. If you are accepted to the program and intend to matriculate you will need to send all your official documents to either the Office of the Registrar at

If sending materials electronically, please send your scores to 6908, and your transcripts either to the Registrar’s Office at registrars@uthscsa.edu.
I’ve submitted my application but haven’t heard back from the program, when should I hear back?
Admissions committees meet and make decisions at varying times, but if you want immediate feedback we’d recommend reaching out to the program directly as they each handle their own admissions.
I’ve received a conditional offer of admissions as an international applicant. What do I need to do to get an official offer and my I-20?
International applicants need to submit all official documents (official test scores, transcript evaluations, transcripts from all universities and colleges attended, and the UT Health San Antonio Immunization form) in order to start their I-20 sponsorship process. Once submitted applicants should reach out to your program for the sponsorship forms.
