Did you know consulting is a promising career option for Ph.D.s? It is a common misconception that consulting is restricted to people with a business background. However, anyone trained with advanced analytical skills (M.S., Ph.D., M.D., J.D., etc.) are suitable for the job. Understandably, going into something you are not professionally trained for can be overwhelming and intimidating. But with the right guidance, you can take those first steps into developing your career.
But what is consulting and how do you learn more about it? Consulting is the business of providing expert advice to help people solve problems in various specializations. This process is a dynamic interaction between a client (who has a problem or question) and an analytical individual (who can structure the issue and systematically work through it). Additionally, the hiring process is unique and requires a bit of preparation.
