Dr. Rita Ghosh's lab research looks at gene-environment interactions that lead to oxidative stress in cancer and to develop ways to target these deregulated pathways as targets for cancer prevention/therapy.
The lab uses a variety of cell culture and animal models (immunocompromised and transgenic rodents) in our research. Our in vitro studies use a combination of genomic, biochemical and molecular biology approaches to study cancers including melanoma, bladder and prostate cancers. Our candidate compounds are of botanical origin including those that are used as culinary spices. We have created many derivatives of such compounds to test structure-activity of compounds for potential anti-cancer activities.
