Researcher profile

Rita Ghosh, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Division of Research

Dr. Rita Ghosh received her MS and PhD in Life Sciences at the University of Hyderabad in 1984 and 1990, respectively.  She completed postdoctoral training in molecular biology and molecular cancer biology at both Texas A&M University and MD Anderson Cancer Center.  She joined the faculty of the Department of Urology in 2011.  Dr. Ghosh’s laboratory researches gene-environment interactions that lead to oxidative stress in cancer and to develop ways to target those deregulated signaling pathways for cancer prevention/therapy.  Dr. Ghosh’s lab uses a variety of cell culture and animal models (immunocompromised and transgenic rodents) with a combination of genetic, biochemical and molecular biology approaches to study cancers including melanoma, bladder and prostate cancers. Her team has created many derivatives of such compounds to test structure-activity of compounds for potential anti-cancer activities.
