David Katerndahl, M.D., M.A., FAAFP, Emeritus

Professor, Emeritus

David A. Katerndahl, M.D., M.A. is a family physician with a Master’s Degree in Education. He is also a Professor Emeritus. Dr. Katerndahl retired in August, 2021 and is no longer taking patients with the Department of Family and Community Medicine.  After 3 years in private practice, he joined the department in 1984 and served as its Director of Research and Faculty Development for over 10 years. His expertise is in the area of mental health care, having conducted research and receiving additional training in this area. He founded and currently runs the department’s Psychotropic Clinic for patients needing medication to control their mental disorders.
