William Brian Reeves, MD, FACP, FASN, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine since May 2016, is a practicing clinical nephrologist and scientist with a research interest in acute kidney injury (AKI). Dr. Reeves’ research, supported by NIDDK, focuses on the mechanisms and diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI) and involves the full spectrum of basic science, translational science and clinical research. Dr. Reeves is also involved in training the next generation of physician-scientists and holds two NIH R25 grants to foster the career development of young investigators.

Dr. Reeves directs an active research program in the field of acute kidney injury and has made significant contributions regarding the role of the innate immune system, including inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, toll like receptors, and dendritic cells to the pathogenesis of kidney injury.
