Cynthia L.  Wall, PhD, MSN, APRN, PCNS-BC, CNE

Assistant Professor/Clinical

Dr. Wall is a seasoned professional and national presenter in pediatric nursing and nursing education. She holds ANCC board certification as a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (PCNS) and NLN board certification in Academic Nursing Education (CNE). Dr. Wall has had a clinical impact in diverse pediatric clinical settings in San Antonio. She established interprofessional pediatric critical care transport teams for two children's hospital systems, supervised an EPSDT clinic, coordinated an interprofessional inpatient pediatric palliative care team, led a hospital-based, multidisciplinary, bioethics consult team, and conducted a system-wide quality improvement initiative for nursing pain assessment and management practices. In 2009, Dr. Wall entered academic nursing education and earned her Ph.D. in Education with a Specialty in Nursing Education in 2016. Her expertise in varied settings in pediatric nursing informs her academic teaching in nursing ethics and pediatric and family nursing courses. Dr. Wall has a particular interest in the nursing curriculum and inclusive nursing education pedagogies. She builds on students' life experiences and strives to create a learning environment that engages their passion, stimulates their reflection, and facilitates a desire for life-long learning that supports their future nursing practice.
