Master of Science in Personalized Molecular Medicine Career Opportunities

Graduates trained in personalized molecular medicine enjoy a wide variety of employment opportunities, including academic, research and clinical paths.

M.S. Program graduates are well prepared for:

Further training in research or medicine:

  • Ph.D., M.D., D.D.S, or Pharm.D. graduate programs

Typical employment outcomes for our graduates:

  • Research positions at a major university or medical school
  • Research positions in a biotech or pharmaceutical company

Master of Science in Personalized Molecular Medicine Marketable Skills:

At graduation, students in either track will gain the following skill set:

1. Clear understanding of current literature related to his/her specialty area and general awareness of emerging information that promises paradigm-shifts for future progress in biomedical science

2. Project management, problem solving and decision making

3. Report writing

4. Critical thinking, analysis, interpretation and use of published research data and data from thesis research

5. Managing research data and information

6. Team work

7. Ability to clearly communicate in writing and in verbal expression

8. Strong values regarding Research Ethics and Research Integrity, and their implementation to data acquisition, and data analysis and interpretation

9. Clear understanding of the workings of Research Enterprise and biddings for funding

The Office of Career Development

UT Health San Antonio graduate students have access to the GSBS Office of Career Development (OCD). The OCD provides career and professional development training opportunities including individual meetings/career counseling, workshops & seminars. The OCD also works with the Graduate School’s Career Advisory Council and provides career exploration talks. The OCD provides graduate students a framework to discover next steps in their career along with resources to encourage and prepare graduate students for the future.
