Captain Elaine Por works as a Research Biochemist in the Ocular Trauma division at the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research.
Captain Por received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Neuroscience at UT Health San Antonio in 2012. She conducted her dissertation research on pain signaling and receptor regulation under the mentorship of Dr. Nathan Jeske. After completion of her Ph.D., Captain Por received her commission in the U.S. Army as a 71B/Biochemist.
Currently assigned to the Ocular Trauma division at the USAISR (JBSA-Fort Sam Houston) her research focus in combat casualty care is directed at advancing treatments and methods that protect, repair and restore eye and vision from injuries sustained by service members.
