Biography

Alyssa is studying Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb), the organism that causes tuberculosis disease. Her research focuses on lipids that reside on the cell envelope of M.tband she is using biochemical methods to study the biosynthesis and transport of these lipids to the bacterial cell envelope. Additionally, she is also working on the selective biochemical removal of specific lipids on the surface of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) in order to improve the efficacy of the vaccine.
