Clinical experience, Endodontics Certificate with Master's Option

How many patients will I have? You will treat and complete around 250 clinical cases with a portfolio of 5 patient cases for the ABE.

Where do I receive my clinical education? We have community-based clinics and our students have operatories at UT Dentistry’s Center for Oral Health Care & Research.

How many operatories are in the clinic where I will work? Each resident will be assigned one operatory. Our clinic has eight open operatories. Additionally, we have 3 closed-door surgical suites for endodontic microsurgeries and sedation cases.

What types of procedures will students be expected to perform to complete the rotation? You will participate in patient evaluation, management, caring for emergency cases, creating endodontic radiology, diagnosis and treatment plans. Your procedures will include both surgical and nonsurgical procedures.

Who supervises and teaches? All our full-time faculty members are practicing endodontists including adjunct faculty members. You will be working with a team of faculty members who are there to guide you and serve as mentors. Instructors hold case conferences with students.

Who are my patients? Patients are members of the San Antonio community. We also serve South Texas with locations in Laredo and at a variety of community clinics in Bexar County.

What else should I know? Our faculty will evaluate students on patient management and chair-side manner. You must serve our patients in a professional way to complete the program. You will be expected to participate in a research project.
