Dr. Arango was born in Medellin, Colombia.
He obtained his dental degree at Universidad CES, in Medellin, in 1997. He did both his internship (1998-1999) and residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (1999-2004), in the same institution, and had a successful full-scope Oral Surgery practice in Medellin. He pursued a Master in Epidemiology (2010-2012) and moved to the United States in the summer of 2012 to form a family with his beautiful wife Amelia, who also hails from Medellin, but calls San Antonio home since 1999.
After arriving in America, he worked in research at UT Health San Antonio, Department of Pulmonary/Critical Care, and then went back to Oral Surgery residency in Boston, at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard School of Dental Medicine affiliate) to complete his Senior and Chief resident years (2015-2017). Dr. Arango has been practicing Oral Surgery since his residency and he is now back in his American hometown, San Antonio, as Faculty at UT Health/Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
He is a dedicated husband and father of 4 and has a passion for caring for patients and training the future generations of Oral Surgeons.
Dr. Arango practices full-scope Oral Surgery but has special interest in Dental implants/bone grafts/bone regeneration, trigeminal nerve repair, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma/reconstruction, MRONJ management, TMJ surgery, benign pathology of the jaws, among others.
He believes in the integration of the different medical and dental specialties and collaborative work with them, to provide Interdisciplinary, comprehensive treatment to patients.
He is fully bilingual (English/Spanish).
