Students of the School of Dentistry provided dental screenings and oral hygiene counseling at Haven for Hope’s annual Back to School event Saturday.
This year, students provided care to over eighty children with 41% identified for being at risk for cavities. The school also supplied each child with a dental care kit containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, and tips for oral hygiene care.
Haven for Hope is a state of the art center providing shelter and services for people experiencing homelessness in Bexar County. The shelter also has an on-site dental clinic that is staffed by faculty and students of the university.
