Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.)

D.D.S.

The Doctor of Dental Surgery is the dental degree that is required for the general practice of dentistry. It also is required for any advanced education programs. Our program at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry combines multidisciplinary training with a strong clinical focus, which prepares our students for a range of dental careers.

  • Academics

    Beginning with DS1s entering in 2017, the curriculum for the first two years features integrated basic and clinical sciences, foundation science in context and “just-in-time” learning.

  • How to Apply

    Approximately 100 students are admitted to each entering class. Dental school admission is highly competitive.

  • Accepted?

    Congratulations! Here's what you need to know.

  • Clinical Experience

    You will work in clinics during your first year. Each progressive year will result in further clinical experiences in our general dentistry clinics.

  • Tuition

    Dental school tuition may vary depending on coursework and academic needs. Here is an estimate, which is subject to change.

  • Paying for School

    Grants, loans and financial aid for dental school are available. Our advisers can assist you.

Requirements

  • Take the Dental Admission Test (DAT)
  • 90 semester credit hours from an accredited university or college
  • Grade of C or better in required courses
