Dental Hygiene Entry Level Bachelor of Science in Laredo

Part of the Department of Periodontics

Beginning in July 2023, we will offer our top-ranking Dental Hygiene Bachelor of Science program at the UT Center for Education and Research at Laredo. Our Laredo program will consist of online classes taught by UT Health San Antonio faculty with in-person dental hygiene faculty to teach at the SIM labs and clinics in Laredo.

The Dental Hygiene Bachelor of Science, completed during the final two years of undergraduate studies, along with successful completion of the National Dental Hygiene Board Examination, a state or regional examination, and a jurisprudence exam is required to become a Dental Hygienist.

Dental Hygiene Recruitment Video

  • Academics

    Our program prepares students for licensure and entry to the dental hygiene profession through two academic years of upper-level coursework.

  • Prerequisite Courses

    Completion of all prerequisite courses with at least a grade of C (2.7 GPA)

  • How to Apply

    We accept up to 8 students each fall. Dental hygiene admission is a competitive process. We consider many factors in addition to your academic credentials.

  • Clinical Experience

    Our students gain experience in a clinical setting in Laredo.

  • Tuition

    Dental hygiene tuition may vary depending on cost of tuition, lab fees or instrument fees. This chart gives an estimate, which is subject to change.

  • Paying for School

    Grants, loans and financial aid for dental school are available. Our financial aid advisors can assist you.

Requirements

  • 2.7 overall GPA
  • Completion of all dental hygiene prerequisite courses with at least a grade of C (2.7 GPA)
  • International applicants: TOEFL minimum score 560 (paper), 220 (computer-based), 68 (Internet-based)
  • Application Process Begins October 26
