Physician Assistant accreditation
UT Health San Antonio is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, to award certificates and baccalaureate, master's, doctoral and professional degrees. The institution was last reviewed and reaffirmed in 2018. The institution's accreditation extends through 2028 and includes all programs offered on the institution's main campus as well as those offered at all extended program sites.

The Accreditation Review Commission on the Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to UT Health San Antonio's Physician Assistant Program sponsored by the UT Health San Antonio. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.
UT Health San Antonio Physician Assistant Studies program has been approved to expand the reach of this educational program offering: a distant campus location PA program in Laredo, Texas. Programmatic approval has been granted from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the program will begin the first cohort of students in May of 2021.
Graduation from an accredited program is required to sit for the national exam. The UT Health San Antonio Master of Physician Assistant Studies program is currently accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on the Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). This accreditation allows graduates to sit for the national licensure examination.
The national licensing exam allows initial professional licensure in any state.
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be March 2028.
