First Responder Group Coordinator

The Department of Emergency Health Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Health Professions is recruiting for a full-time faculty position as First Responder Group Coordinator (FRG) to be filled as Lecturer, Clinical Instructor, or Assistant Professor/Clinical appointed faculty academic rank and title commensurate with experience and/or education. The position of Coordinator, First Responder Group (FRG) is a faculty instructor position at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Health Professions Department of Emergency Health Sciences. The position is responsible for the administrative and operational aspects for the provision of continuing education and/or Quality Assurance for the Bexar County First Responder Group and other entities contracting with the Department for these services.

The Coordinator will have a broad knowledge of emergency medical care to include experience in Emergency or Critical Care Medicine; will maintain Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic Licensure, EMS Instructor (EMS Coordinator preferred), and American Heart Association Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor certification. Other duties as described in policy manual.  Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, a clinical specialty or related certification. Knowledge or experience in emergency medical services. As a professional nurse or licensed paramedic functioning under these guidelines, the First Responder Group Coordinator has the authority to exercise control and to direct patient care in the clinical setting if the need arises. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for education requirements.
