The School of Health Professions welcomes its newly appointed Timothy A. Reistetter, Ph.D., OTR, FAOTA, Associate Dean for Research.

Previously appointed professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), where he served as director of the post-doctoral certificate program in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Reistetter also is a professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy.

David Shelledy, Ph.D., RRT, FASAHP, FAARC, School of Health Professions Dean and Professor noted that Reistetter is a nationally distinguished researcher and scholar who will provide strong leadership by supporting and developing programs of research in health services, population health big data, rehabilitation medicine and outcomes research.

Reistetter said he aims to develop outcomes research that is collaborative across the School, the University and the community.

“I think it’s an extremely collaborative campus,” he said. “We in the School of Health Professions are poised to assist as well as benefit from that.”

Reistetter is one of the five 2019 inductees to the American Occupational Therapy Foundation Academy of Research in Occupational Therapy. His research interests include developing and analyzing rehabilitation service areas to better understand the variation in post-acute care for patients in rehabilitation and recovery.
