Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD)

  • Two separate applications; (1) OTCAS application and (2) the OTD Supplemental Application are required. 
  • The OTCAS Application, supplemental application, official transcripts, and all supporting documents must be submitted and OTCAS status must be listed as complete by the application deadline.
  • Bachelors degree completed by May of the enrollment year. 
  •  Program prerequisite courses must be complete by December of the year prior to program start.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A grade of C or better in the individual prerequisite classes
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) official scores up to five years old (no minimum score requirement). GRE code for OTCAS 2138.
  • 40 hours of observation under the general supervision of a licensed occupational therapist documented on Documentation of Experience form. 
  • OTD Supplemental Observation Hours (password: LucasQU is case sensitive.)
  • Two Letters of Reference, preferably from a licensed occupational therapist.
  • Interview with Occupational Therapy faculty.

* Human Anatomy with Lab (4 SCH) and Human Physiology with Lab (4 SCH) sequence also meets the Anatomy and Physiology requirements. 

** 1 semester credit hours or certificate of completion is acceptable

Transcripts

Official transcripts from each college/university currently and previously attended reflecting completed and in progress coursework - submit directly to OTCAS (Do not send transcripts to UT Health San Antonio).

Transcripts from institutions outside the United States must be submitted in the original language and must be accompanied by a  NACES Members evaluation agency English translation for each course.

International Applicants

Submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores; minimum scores 560 (papers) or 68 (Internet).
