Brooke Elise Martin
Brooke Elise Martin Class of 2016
Brooke Elise Martin is a second year student of Physical Therapy (PT) and vice president of her class. She comes from a military background, and though originally from San Antonio, Texas, has lived in California and Japan.
Brooke has always liked the PT field, and attained a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Athletics. Out of curiosity, she looked into being a kidney specialist, and even shadowed a few to see how she liked it, but felt like it wasn’t as personable as PT. She prefers the personal connection, and helps other PT students by organizing an annual Physical Therapy Olympics seminar where students can network with clinics and other companies that are recruiting physical therapists.
She feels her experience at the Health Science Center has been exceptional and preparatory for her future because the institution does a good job of fully preparing students for the next steps in their career path. She appreciates how the school provides a full two years of schooling before sending students out on rotations. She loves her professors.
In the future, she plans on pursuing certification in a specialty such as orthopaedics, and eventually a fellowship in sports medicine; but acknowledges that she may change her mind, depending on where her journey takes her.
