Esteban Ricardo Ayala, Jr. Class of 2016
Esteban Ayala taught high school science, but he loved medicine.
“I have a fascination with medicine, I love learning about it,” he says. “I enjoy being like a detective. You have got to find the clues and put it all together and help people out. You can make someone feel good.”
Although he lives in Laredo, Ayala spent his first year commuting between school and home. He’d study to be a physicians assistant during the week, then drive home on the weekend to be a spouse and dad.
Ultimately, he wants to practice family medicine back home in Laredo. He likes the versatility and the feeling of being a part of a team, all working to keep families healthy.
“That’s what I came to do,” Ayala says. “Being able to care for the whole family is important. You get to know everything.”
