Elaine M Maldonado Campbell, M.D.

Professor

Dr. Colette M. Kohler Endowed Professorship in Pediatric Cardiology

Dr. Maldonado was born in Weslaco, Texas and was raised in a small town called Progreso Lakes, TX with a population of ~250.  She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. Her clinical training took place at Texas Tech for Pediatrics Residency and at Indiana University/Riley Hospital for Children for her Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship.  She joined UTHSCSA/UT Health immediately after completing her fellowship training and has been the Medical Director of Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography since that time. Dr. Maldonado is also the Director for Student and Resident Education in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.  Her clinical interests include improving current practice to provide excellence in Pediatric Cardiac imaging across all aspects of the field.

    Highlights

    In 2018, Dr. Maldonaod received The Master Clinician Award from the UT Health School of Medicine.  The purpose of the award is to honor faculty members who have demonstrated sustained excellence in patient care. Master Clinicians are ‘doctor’s doctors’ – those to whom you would refer your own family and trust to provide your personal health care.  She has been chosen as Best Teaching Faculty by the Residents multiple times.
