Asad Qadir, MD

Asad Qadir, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Cardiology.        Dr. Qadir grew up in western NewYork.  He earned his Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a concentration in microbiology from Cornell University in 2010.  He then moved to Chicago for his medical training, where he completed medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. During medical school he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He stayed at University Chicago for General Pediatrics residency at Comer Children's Hospital. He then completed Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University/Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. His research during fellowship involved the behavioral and emotional outcomes of children with congenital heart disease. He stayed for an additional year to obtain advanced training in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Qadir joined the University of Texas Health Science Center Pediatric Cardiology faculty in 2021.    

His current academic and clinical interests include interventional cardiology.  He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics since 2017, and in Pediatric Cardiology certified since 2020.
