Rajeshwar R. Tekmal, Ph.D.

Professor, Director and Division Chief of Reproductive Research

Carl J. Pauerstein Professorship in Reproductive Research and Research Professor

Dr. Tekmal received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the N.D.R.I./Kurukshetra     
  University, India, in 1982. He was a faculty member of this department from 1989-1995. In June 1995, Dr. Tekmal moved to Emory University, where he rose to the rank of Professor. Dr. Tekmal rejoined our department in June 2003 as Professor and Director of the Division of Reproductive Research. Dr. Tekmal is the holder of Carl J. Pauerstein Professorship Reproductive Research. He is also Theme Leader of Women's Cancer of Cancer Therapy and Research Center, a NCI-designated Cancer Center. He is the Managing Editor (Hormonal Carcinogenesis) of Frontiers in Biosciences and Associate Editor/Editorial Board of Cancer Research. Dr. Tekmal is a member of a number of professional organizations. His current research interests are the role of hormonal carcinogenesis in breast and gynecological malignancies, hormone-mediated gene regulation, and the role of cytokine growth factors in endometriosis.
