Physician Assistant
Daniel "Woody" Wood graduated from the University of Akron in 1994. He then completed Masters training in Immunology also from the University of Akron. He received his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. Since graduation he has served actively in the physician assistant (PA) community speaking at the local, state and national level. Woody was the first Physician Assistant in the Department of Pediatrics and in the Division of Critical Care. Since 2009, he has continued to work in the Division of Critical Care in the Pediatric Congenital Heart Unit.
Woody was selected as the 2018 Pediatric PA of the Year by SPAP.
Daniel "Woody" was the admission chair for the PA program in 2006 where he served as faculty from 2003-2006.
Daniel "Woody" served as the President for the Society of PA in Pediatrics from 2005 - 2008. He served on the AAPA Leaderrship committee from 2007-2011.
Woody is active in the Boy Scouts of America . Currenlty, with his wife he serves as the Troop 9 popcorn leader.
Annually, Woody travels to Guatemala for a medical mission trip with the MS3/MS4 students from UTHSCSA..
