Accepted Student Instructions

Nursing Students

After you receive an acceptance letter, you must complete several requirements before your first day on campus. Learn about needed immunizations and background checks, housing and more.

After gaining admission to the School of Nursing, admitted students will be required to complete the following items prior to enrolling in classes. This is not an exhaustive list; other trainings, documents, or requirements may be necessary once you are admitted.

These steps are NOT to be completed prior to applying or hearing an admissions decision. Admitted students are given thorough instructions and plenty of time to complete these steps before enrolling in classes.

Following Nursing Program Conditional Acceptance

  •     Pay the $500.00 Pre-Matriculation Seat Deposit
  •     If the admitted student begins the program, $250 will be refunded to the student. The additional $250 is a School of Nursing processing fee and is non-refundable. If the admitted student does not begin the nursing program, the full $500 is non-refundable.

Criminal background check

Admitted students will undergo a criminal background check through the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI. Results of the background check are then sent to the Texas Board of Nursing who will inform students of the result of the background check.

Immunizations

Admitted students must have their health provider confirm they have received appropriate immunizations before enrolling in classes at UT Health San Antonio. Nursing students are required to maintain immunizations throughout the duration of the program.

During the matriculation process, admitted students will receive an email to create a Sentry MD account. You may upload your immunization records via email to UTHSA@SentryMD.com, or upload to the Secure Student Uploader. Processing can take one to two business days.

Email questions to UTHSA@SentryMD.com and a response will be provided within 24 hours. You may also contact Wellness 360 staff at (210) 567-2788 or SHC@uthscsa.edu.

For COVID-19 Vaccine information for incoming students, please visit our Wellness360 site.

Student health insurance

The UT Board of Regents requires students at UT Health San Antonio to maintain a valid major medical insurance policy throughout the duration of the program. Admitted students who do not already have insurance may enroll in student health insurance through the Office of Student Life.

CPR certification

Admitted students are required to obtain CPR certification through the American Heart Association prior to enrolling in classes. CPR certification through other agencies is not accepted.
