Virginia (Jennie) Shaw, MSN, RN, CNE spent the first part of her nursing career in the hospital setting as a staff nurse, director, educator, and chief nurse executive. In 2000, Jennie joined UT Health School of Nursing, teaching in several nursing theory and clinical courses. Her areas of expertise include: undergraduate teaching (classroom and clinical), curriculum development and evaluation, innovative clinical teaching strategies, faculty mentoring/development, academic-practice partnerships, and the regulatory aspect of nursing education. In 2010, she led the development and implementation of the first Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) in San Antonio, based on a collaborative academic-service partnership. In 2019 she began serving as the Methodist Healthcare System/UT Health School of Nursing DEU and Intern Coordinator. She also provides service to the nursing professional nationally by her role as an on-site nursing school accreditation evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
