Breslin

Eileen T. Breslin is the Patty L. Hawken Nursing Endowed Professor and Dean of the School of Nursing at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.


For 30 years, Dr. Breslin has a sustained record of developing, implementing innovative clinical services and educational models through community partnerships that continue to thrive. She has served on national panels to develop best practice guidelines in women’s health and to address solutions to the national nursing shortage. She has led the implementation of graduate programs in primary care and public health dedicated to promoting and ensuring safe and quality care.


Dr. Breslin is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, a Distinguished Practitioner in Nursing in the National Academies of Practice, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has served on the National Advisory Council for Nursing Education and Practice, on the Boards of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the Massachusetts Organization of Nurse Executives.


She earned a BSN from Northern Arizona University, a women’s healthcare practitioner certification from the University of New Mexico, a M.S. in maternal newborn nursing from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Her post doctoral education includes participation as a Summer Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Research and Vulnerable Women’s Institute.
