Dr. Susan McDonald is a pediatric nurse practitioner and maternal-child clinical nurse specialist with over 40 years? experience. She has taught in BSN and MSN programs. Incorporating experiences from her clinical practice, she has provided students with real-life scenarios in lecture and simulation. As a member of the maternal-child nursing team at Stephen F. Austin State University, she was instrumental in the development and utilization of simulation for baccalaureate nursing students. She presently teaches at UT Health San Antonio in the undergraduate and graduate programs. She has published internationally and presented her doctoral research on the national level. Her current research interests include prevention of childhood obesity, the use of simulation in nursing education, and improving student outcomes.
