As a certified medical-surgical nurse, I use my clinical, teaching and research experience across medicine, surgical, telemetry and emergency room units to inform my work as an educator for novice RNs, pre-licensure, and graduate students. I am also a team member of the Caring for the Caregiver program at the School of Nursing, where my practice is based on dissertation work in person-engaged care for people with dementia. My research interests include education for novice adult learners in basic nursing, geriatric and dementia care; care engagement in cognitively impaired populations; and developing tools for tracking related learning outcomes--all grounded in a framework of person-engaged practice.
