Martha Martinez, MSN, RN

Associate Professor/Clinical

I am a bilingual Hispanic faculty working with graduate and undergraduate students in the area of Population Health.  Professional experience is in several fields in nursing including acute care and administration.  Public health experience includes working on the Texas Mexico border practicing primary care for uninsured or underinsured community residents.  My teaching strategies address different learning styles to provide students with modalities that address their learning needs. My teaching goal is to allow students to learn through experience in a supportive and respectful environment.

    Student Mentees/Trainees

    • 2020 – 2021, ACES Training, Medical students present to nursing students about ACES from the medical perspective and the role of the nurse. Students mentored during CSL project. 
    • 2017 – 2018, CSL grant to work and mentor MS2 student in the area of public health, working in low income housing property, with young mothers and immunization adherence using a reminder program to have on-time immunizations for infants up to 36 months of age. 
    • 2015 – 2017, Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR), Special training for 2nd year medical students in aging research. Faculty mentors the students in the data collection, analysis and interpretation. Mentor-ship also includes abstract preparations and submissions.
