Scholarships (Frequently Asked Questions)

How do I gain access to the scholarship application?

You must submit a FAFSA to UT Health San Antonio. Please allow several days to process financial aid applications. Once your FAFSA is processed, you will receive an email letting you know that you have access to the scholarship application.

Note: Allow more than just a couple of days from FAFSA submission. Submitting your FAFSA days before the scholarship application deadline may result in a late application.

When do I need to submit my application?

Each application cycle will have a different application deadline. Look for emails about the scholarship application process from the School of Nursing or visit the Veteran Services and Financial Aid (VSFA) Scholarship Page.

Can I submit my scholarship application after the deadline?

Each application is time-stamped, and late submissions will not be reviewed.

What are the requirements to be considered for scholarships?

Submitting your application automatically considers you for all available scholarships as long as you meet the requirements. Each scholarship may be subject to very specific requirements which is why you must answer so many questions!

Can I meet with someone to talk about my scholarship application essays?

Yes! Call the Student Success Center to schedule an appointment. Check out the Scholarship section in Canvas. There is a presentation uploaded that has helpful information on having a competitive application.

I didn’t get a scholarship this semester. Am I still eligible for future semesters?

Yes! Scholarship applications are reviewed each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer).

If I already applied for scholarships last semester, do I need to submit my application again?

The quick answer: It depends. Scholarship applications are per academic year, so Fall, Spring, and Summer would be one scholarship application aid year. If the scholarship application you previously submitted falls in the same academic year as you want to apply for, you can leave what you submitted.

If you’d like to edit what you submitted, you must reach out to Financial Aid and ask them to open your application to update your responses. If you open your application back up, you must resubmit it to be considered. Opening your application but failing to click Submit will prevent you from being considered.

Is this scholarship only for one semester or will I receive the same scholarship next semester too?

It depends on the scholarship you receive, but most scholarships are awarded for one semester only.
