Dr. Juliana Gaviria was born and grew up in Medellin, Colombia. She graduated with a degree in general dentistry from Universidad CES in Medellin, Colombia in 2010, with honorable mention for excellence in academic and ethical work. She completed an externship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology at the University of Buenos Aires, an experience which formed the foundation of her passion for oral surgery.

In January 2018, she joined the International Dentistry Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. She completed her DDS in 2020, earning the William H. Bell Award for Predoctoral Achievement in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Southwest Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Award, and the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Student Award. She was additionally inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society for her commitment to academic excellence. After graduation from dental school Dr. Gaviria completed a 1-year OMFS internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio before matching into the program’s 6-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, where she is looking forward to spending the next years learning and working toward her longtime dream of becoming an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Outside of OMFS, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé Christian, her dog Oso, her family, and friends. Her other interests include visiting family in Colombia, traveling to new places, going to concerts and working out.
