General Surgery

The general surgery practice of UT Health San Antonio is one of the largest, most diverse surgical practices in the region. Our surgeons are board-certified and fellowship-trained in one or more surgical specialty. We offer surgical solutions for weight loss, hernia repair, gastrointestinal conditions, colon cancer, pelvic floor disorders and other conditions involving the liver, pancreas and biliary tract.

Our surgeons are experts at performing minimally invasive and robotic surgery in addition to conducting flexible endoscopy procedures.

We are committed to providing the highest and safest level of patient care possible. Our patients can rely on the presence of competent surgeons, a safe and healthy environment, and an entire system of informed and good practices regarding the surgical care we provide.

As part of an academic health center, we have access to more opportunities for research, education and training. This offers more exposure to a broader range of patients and conditions — granting our surgeons more experience in various surgical situations.

While residents at differing stages of training may be involved during a patient’s care, a board-certified and licensed surgeon will always remain responsible for the patient and his or her care.
